Tori Spelling finds love in Ottawa
By ANN MARIE MCQUEEN -- Ottawa Sun
Tori Spelling did more than act in Ottawa last month: The former Beverly Hills 90210 star hooked up with her equally married Canadian co-star. Sparks flew when Spelling and Toronto native Dean McDermott dined with cast and crew on just the second night of shooting Lifetime movie Mind Over Murder, according to a well-placed source on the set. The pair sat beside each other in a group of about 15 others at Byward Market restaurant Ei8hteen and later "made out" when the group moved on to nearby Social. "There was alcohol involved," said the source. Though they tried to hide their relationship, the small set was soon flooded with gossip about the affair. At a rooftop wrap party Spelling threw for the cast and crew at the Cartier Hotel weeks later, the pair held hands and came out as a couple. "They wanted everyone to know they were officially together," said the source. At that party, Spelling took pains to point out the relationship was not "a Hollywood thing." Meanwhile, McDermott said "this is the woman of my life." Yesterday, People magazine reported the 38-year-old actor filed for divorce from Mary Jo Eustace, his wife of 12 years and mother of his son and daughter, on Sept. 9. Spelling told the magazine she'd been living apart from writer-actor hubby Charlie Shanian since early August. There was little hint of the budding affair Aug. 15 when the Sun visited the set of Mind Over Murder. Spelling sang the praises of her marriage while McDermott talked about the parts he's managed to snag since landing in Los Angeles -- he's in episodes of the upcoming Kojak with Ving Rhames and The Closer with Kyra Sedgewick -- and life with his wife and two kids in Los Angeles. He also had nothing but good things to say about Spelling. "Tori's awesome. We have hit it off from Day 1," he said. "We get along like a house on fire." McDermott's management in Toronto had no comment on the affair. |
