'NYPD' creator working on new cop series

Steven Bochco, the creator of the long-running series "L.A. Law" and the recently departed "NYPD Blue," will begin penning a new cop series for the WB network, Variety reports.

The cop/mystery show will revolve around two Hollywood homicide detectives at the LAPD.

Bochco said the series will be more upbeat in tone to make it more appealing to the younger WB demographic rather than heavy-duty or DNA detail-oriented shows like "CSI."

"It will have a certain fun quotient," Bochco said. "These are two young, smart, clever detectives who are a little sideways sometimes."

Bochco recently launched dramas "Over There" for the FX network and ABC's "Blind Justice."
