If television represents the lowest common denominator in entertainment media, then it's probably safe to call reality television the lowest of the, er, lowest.
Has that stopped 19 bazillion people from tuning into shows like Survivor, Temptation Island and Boot Camp? No. Does that mean the people who make these shows are genuinely interested in entertaining their audiences? Not necessarily. Like breadcrumbs in ground beef, reality TV is just the cheapest kind of filler between commercials.
