Designers duelling on 'Runway'
By -- Calgary Sun

Unless they've been living under a boulder in the middle of Saskatchewan, reality TV fans are probably hip to who won Project Runway 3.

Not only is it simple to Google, but the winner appeared on American talk shows after the U.S. finale aired in October.

Before Canadians learn the outcome on the Life Network tonight we ask you to join us on a trip back in time.

At the end of last week's show, stuck-up designer Laura Bennett was on a rampage to prove Jeffrey Sebelia received help on his final collection.

Bennett felt Sebelia's designs were too perfect to be his own work, so she voiced her concerns to mentor Tim Gunn.

We can only assume Sebelia makes it to Fashion Week.

Here's a look at the final four designers and who we think will be declared "in."

Laura Bennett

Why she'll win: The Manhattan architect and mother of five (with a sixth on the way) understands how to dress a woman. And there's no mistaking her designs.

Why she won't win: Fans don't like her icy persona.

Challenges she's won: She won the judges over with a cocktail dress for the black and white challenge.

Our predictions: Laura will bore the judges with her safe line and will finish last.

Michael Knight

Why he'll win: The Atlanta designer knows how to tell a story with his designs.

Why he won't win: Did you see that silver and white monstrosity last week?

Challenges he's won: Knight won two, a modern look for a "fashion icon" and an outfit created using recycled materials.

Our predictions: Michael's line won't be as strong as his personality and he'll place second.

Jeffrey Sebelia

Why he'll win: In an industry where nice guys finish last, L.A. designer Sebelia will have no problem getting to the top. He's motivated, ruthless and talented.

Why he won't win: If he got help sewing his collection, he'll be out before his designs hit the runway.

Challenges he's won: Sebelia won twice. Once for an outfit for an international jet-setter and again for a couture evening gown.

Our predictions: Sebelia's "perfect" collection will impress, but his reputation will land him in third place.

Uli Herzner

Why she'll win: The East German has proven herself on the runway and her final safari-themed collection looks stunning.

Why she won't win: How many colourful, patterned, beach-themed designs do the people of Miami need?

Challenges she's won: Uli won for her outfit for a dog and its owner and her creation which best expressed "her specific point of view as a designer."

Our Predictions: Uli will be crowned the winner.

Project Runway 3 airs on the Life Network tonight at 8 p.m.
