Scott Baio quits womanizing
By LINDSEY WARD - Sun Media

Scott Baio has had the kind of lady-luck most hot-blooded straight men can only dream of.

Yes, Joanie isn't the only one who loved Chachi.

Pamela Anderson, Heather Locklear, Nicolette Sheridan and a calendar's worth of Playboy Playmates have also had their turn with him in the past.

We could go on, but we'd rather not.

So what happens when a commitment-phobic 1980s heartthrob finally decides to ditch his bad-boy ways for a wife? He gets his own celebreality TV show, of course!

Enter Scott Baio is 45 ... and Single. The VH1 series, which made its Canadian debut on MuchMoreMusic last weekend (episode two airs Sunday), sees the former sitcom star recruit life coach Alison Arnold to help him say goodbye to his Happy Days of spontaneous sex, apologize to the many women he cheated on and finally settle down with his girlfriend, Renee Sloan.

Let's just say Charles is no longer in charge.

"In life I was never really very satisfied with everything," says Brooklyn-born Baio, who's actually now 46 and married with a child (but more on that later).

"I'm always looking for the next best thing in everything. A car, shoes, and with people. That's who I am. And the reason, I learned, is because I've been very lucky with women. If any woman gave me any aggravation I was just out of there. But that got boring -- and there is no next best thing."

At first Baio wasn't keen on airing his private life -- or jumping on the celebreality bandwagon with folks such as Gene Simmons, Danny Bonaduce and Hulk Hogan. When his agent pitched the idea, he said he'd only do the show if it had a storyline about a guy who makes changes in his life.

"What you see is a storyboard of how I feel ... It's one of the most difficult things I've ever done," he says.

As part of the commitment process, coach Arnold ordered Baio to keep his pants zipped for a month -- something he hadn't done since losing his virginity to his Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi co-star Erin Moran.

"I thought to myself, 'I haven't been celibate since I was 15,' " Baio says. "The first couple of days it was tough, and then it just goes away. 'Oh, sex? Yeah maybe I'll go on the computer and play some poker.' It was a little difficult, but it was easier than I thought."

Besides, Sloan -- a Playmate and former stunt double for Baio's big-breasted ex Anderson -- was worth, uh, saving himself for.

"She's just a good human being," he says.

"There's bulls--t you've got to deal with in every human being. She's just less bulls--t than others. She just leaves me alone a lot, and a lot of women don't want to leave you alone."

Scott Baio is 45 ... and Single has already ran its course in the U.S., so it's no secret Baio and Sloan got it together and exchanged vows atop a highrise in Los Angeles' Koreatown on Dec. 8.

It's also no secret Sloan gave birth to the couple's first child (a daughter whose name is being withheld) in November.

"It's all new," Baio says. "I'm looking around, filling up bottles, changing diapers. It's one of those things where it's like a new toy ... but it gets older."

And what happens when a formerly commitment-phobic 1980s heartthrob finally gets married and has a kid? He gets a second season of his celebreality TV show, of course!

Scott Baio is 46 ... and Pregnant will air in Canada next year. And in case you find the title a smidge confusing, it charts Sloan's (not Baio's) pregnancy and the couple's marriage -- which is going just swell, thanks.

"I always thought that when I got married, the world would end," Baio says.

"But it's the same. I'm pretty much a pain in the ass still. That's the way God made me.

"I'm moody and I like to be alone a lot. I think it's a real guy thing."
