TV Show: Smash

Treat your ears with 'Smash' season two premiere
By Bill Harris, QMI Agency

The cast of Smash.

There is an element to Smash that's for the birds. And when I say "for the birds," I mean The Partridge Family.

TV shows that include music tend to have a moment or two per episode when a song begins, and people immediately are transfixed. It's as if they've never heard music before.

Their eyes widen, they lean forward. "What are these pleasing sounds?" they seem to be asking. "I now completely have come over to your way of thinking."

The Partridge Family was famous for those instantaneous musical conversions back in the early 1970s. But it was just sort of goofy fun in a sitcom format, and you forgave it because The Partridge Family actually was a very funny show, with the likes of David Cassidy, Danny Bonaduce and Dave Madden in the cast.
