'You Can Dance' ends with misstep
By LINDSEY WARD - Sun Media

Sabra Johnson is elated to be America's Favourite Dancer (whatever that means). Viewers of the bloated So You Think You Can Dance finale, however, were short-changed on seeing her reaction.

You can dance if you want to -- but don't even think about leaving your friends behind. That sort of thing doesn't jive on So You Think You Can Dance, which called on past talent for its bloated two-hour finale Thursday.

After what felt like days of recaps, clips and nonsensical blabbing, So You Think revealed its third season winner: Sabra Johnson.

The ripped, 20-year-old contemporary dancer from Utah took home $250,000 and the title of America's Favourite Dancer (whatever that means). I'd tell you her reaction, but by the time the results came in, the credits were rolling.

How did they fill up two hours and leave no time for Sabra to bask in her glory? Simple. In addition to having the final four -- Johnson, Neil Haskell, Lacey Schwimmer and Danny Tidwell -- whittled down to one, they invited the rest of the top 20 back to do routines we've already seen.

Clearly, a lack of votes doesn't guarantee America won't have to see you again. Other filler included judge Mary Murphy's famous scream, performances by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and pop-rocker Ryan Cabrera, and the returns of robo-man Brian Gaynor and clogger Brandon Norris (who never made the top 20).

The show hit rock when a cartoon featuring the heads of host Cat Deeley and judge Nigel Lythgoe on little Mexican Hat Dancing bodies came on. Mind you, Deeley's Mariachi suit did look better than that bird's-nest of a gown someone made her wear.

All of this served as a preview for So You Think's coming tour. Betcha can't wait!
