TORONTO -- Yes, 2002 will go down in history for its two Black Oscar winners. But Kevin Hooks wants us to remember 1972 as well.
That was the year an unprecedented three Black actors were nominated for Oscars -- Diana Ross for Lady Sings The Blues, and both Paul Winfield and Cicely Tyson for Sounder, a movie about a boy and his dog searching for the boy's father, which just happened to star a 13-year-old Kevin Hooks.
