Survivor's Greggifer no more
By JOHN POWELL -- JAM! Showbiz
Admitting that all her strategy consists of is riding the coat-tails of whichever alliance holds the power, Katie jumped ship to team with Greggifer during the yacht trip - loved ones reward and then quickly bounced back once it was apparent that there might be a tie vote now that Tom and Ian had managed to secure Caryn's vote. Although everyone feared it, the reappearance of the Dreaded Purple Rock of Doom at Tribal Council never materialized, as Katie's vote was enough to give Gregg a one-way ticket to Loser Island. The Survivors at the start of the broadcast were:
Koror Tribe Result Probst informs Gregg that he can choose two people to go with him. Gregg selects Jenn and then Katie. Koror Tribal Happenings (Day 31) Steam pours from Ian's ears. He believes Katie sold him out at the challenge. He doesn't think she can be trusted to take to the finals. Ian, The Tomfather and Caryn sit on the shore and mind-meld. A paranoid Ian thinks they have lost control of the game and Greggifer is responsible for that. Ian is sure Greggifer has roped Katie in and they've got Tom on their radar. Tom sees Katie as the "Shady Lady". He didn't believe Caryn when she narked on Katie but now that Ian has said the same thing, he doesn't trust Katie as far as he can throw her. The Tomfather, Ian and Caryn discuss the possibility of a tie vote if they vote for Gregg and the other three pick Caryn. Ian: I don't know the next step to take. Caryn: The core alliance is shattering. That will work in her favour. She must keep close to Tom and Ian if she is to survive. Reward Happenings Katie and Greggifer are shown to the showers and their rooms by the captain of the yacht. Once they are human again, they are given massages on the upper deck. Gregg gets the surprise of his life when his massager trades places with his best friend. Gregg is ecstatic to see him. Later on, the foursome sit down to a meal. Jennifer's sister and Katie's brother-in-law make surprise visits. Katie: Her sister just had a baby and couldn't come. Her brother-in-law is a sight for sore eyes and the next best thing. Koror Tribal Happenings (Day 31) Tom and Ian talk alone. Caryn is off shining pebbles or something. Tom was hoping to win the challenge and get Katie on the boat to firm up their alliance. Ian wonders if there might be a tie at Tribal Council and the Purple Rock of Death might come into play. Ian and Tom agree they will risk their entire game on a tie vote. Tom: Desperate times call for desperate measures. Ian: The plan they are contemplating is like taking a bag of potato chips from a fat man. It can be done but you gotta be quick about it or he will squash you. The Tomfather and Ian reveal their plan to Caryn. In order for it to be successful, Caryn must continue to act like she has no hope of winning the game and will be voted out next. Caryn agrees. Caryn: I can pull this off. I am a great actress. Reward Happenings (Day 31) Katie, Greggifer and their loved ones are brought to a lagoon where they swim with dolphins. For Katie, it is a dream come true. Jenn is happy to share the experience with her sister. At the dinner table there is plenty of scheming. Katie pledges her loyalty to Greggifer. Katie: Her plan is to jump ship to stay with the faction that has all of the power. Gregg wonders what they should do if Caryn wins Immunity. Everyone agrees to vote for the Tomfather. Gregg is sure a tight bond has been formed. He is confident that this new alliance will get them all to the end of the game. Koror Tribal Happenings (Day 31) Greggifer and Katie arrive back at camp with their loved ones. Tom: His greatest fear has been realized. Greggifer and Katie will be the only ones to get a visit from home. Tom: This cuts and twists. Gregg breaks down when saying goodbye to his best friend. Gregg's dad died a year ago and he worries about his mother. Ian promises Katie's brother-in-law that he will watch over her. The Tomfather: This will be the last lovefest on Koror beach. The focus now must be on the end game. Koror Tribal Happenings (Day 32) Tree mail suggests a challenge mixing elements from past challenges together. Ian: Everything better work out. He didn't come to play for second, third or fourth. Immunity Challenge A super challenge with parts of past challenges incorporated into it. The Survivors will be eliminated in heats. Reward Result Koror Pre-Tribal Happenings (Day 32) Tom jokes to Ian about their battle in the final phase of the Immunity Challenge involving shooting targets. Tom: It is probably in the public's best interest that he is a fireman and not a police officer. Tom: He is not worried about a tied vote. It is better to play hard and lose than wait around to be booted. Cutting wood with Gregg, Tom and Ian confirm that Caryn is out next. Tom comments that Caryn is pulling a Janu by moping around and remaining by herself. Ian: Caryn should win an Academy Award for her performance. Ian mentions how Tribal Council should be interesting. Gregg wonders why Ian would say that when the decision about who goes is set in stone. Tom: Tribal Council is always interesting. In the shelter, Greggifer is convinced the core Koror alliance has all the power. Speaking to Katie alone, Ian lets her in on the plan to vote for Gregg. Katie is shocked. Ian is just giving her a heads-up as he promised. Katie: I have issues with Gregg being the target. Katie to Ian: I was in a good place. This is such crap. Ian sees himself and Katie being in the Final Two. Katie: She knows both Ian and Tom want her as the perfect opponent in the finals. She must decide which alliance is better to stay loyal to. She is on the series to win the prize money like everyone else. Koror Tribal Council Happenings Gregg says it was tough not to share the reward with the others. Caryn thinks she was put out quickly in the Reward Challenge because she has won too many feasts. Jenn worries about Greggifer's status in the game. She and Gregg are playing an individual game too though. Gregg says their alliance was not meant to be malicious. Caryn brought all her stuff to Tribal Council because she knows she is not a part of the core alliance. Tom: Even though everyone is friends, they understand you gotta slit throats to win the game. All is fair in love and war. Ian votes for Gregg. It is time for the dark horse to ride off into the sunset. Final Voting: 1. Ian: Gregg. 2. Katie: Gregg. 3. Tom: Gregg. 4. Gregg: Caryn. 5. Jennifer: Caryn. 6. Caryn: Gregg. Tribal Council Victim: Gregg Carey. Gregg and Jennifer are completely surprised by the vote. On the jury, Coby giggles his head off. Parting Comments On the next 'Survivor': Television. "The women compare notes. Jennifer: Katie cleaned house. Ian and Katie have a blow out. Katie: You said you would never lie to me and you did. You didn't even think about how that was going to make me feel to have you go against your word. Ian: If you want me to step out, I will do it. I will do it." On the next 'Survivor': Internet. "Gender lines are drawn as one group hatches a plan to vote off the Survivor who doesn't win Immunity. One Survivor feels betrayed when the winner of a Challenge chooses a different tribemate to enjoy the Reward. Going into Tribal Council, one Survivor holds the power and is torn between an alliance and a friendship. Which way will the vote swing?" Powell's Thoughts: Katie's rage: Her tearing into Ian in the promo is probably over the Reward Challenge. Katie is ticked Ian didn't pick her. Ian thinks he can make up for it by dropping out of whatever the reward is. Apparently, Ian wins Reward next week. Conniving Katie: It seems as though Katie can twist Ian around her finger based on the promise he made to protect her. This could spell doom for Ian later on. One has to wonder why it was okay for Katie to break her promise to Ian but not the other way around. Their mistrust of one another might work in the Tomfather's favour. Cryin' Caryn: Being desperate is bound to make Caryn a target next episode. One guesses she schemes too much, possibly with the women. Tom jury thoughts: So far, Tom would seem to be doing well with the jury. Nobody there can directly point at him as being the mastermind of their departure. That can be a huge factor in determining which way the jury members will swing. Jenn not done yet?: Jenn still has her friendship with Katie. That might be enough for her to survive another vote especially if Jenn doesn't act bitter over Gregg's departure. Despite everything, Caryn is still an outsider and Tom is guiding the votes based on who can best him in challenges.
