The 'Survivor: Cook Islands' players.

The producers of ‘Survivor’ could be playing with fire this season in more ways than one.

CBS has revealed the first twist of the upcoming 13th season set to debut on September 14th. The 20 ‘Survivor: Cook Islands’ players will initially be divided by race before merging in a later episode. The four tribes will be African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic and Caucasian.

As was noted in last season’s finale, the Exile Island twist will be returning as well as the hidden Immunity Idol. Incorporating the pirate theme used on the ‘Pearl Islands’ edition, Tribal Council will be held on a shipwreck set built on one of the islands.
