PARIS HILTON

Flirting naked couldn't save 'Survivor'
By BILL HARRIS -- Toronto Sun

Parvati either did too much, or too little, when she was naked in the hot tub.

Either way, elimination was Parvati's reward during the penultimate episode of Survivor last Thursday. With five castaways remaining, the two-hour season finale takes place tomorrow (8 p.m., Global, CBS), followed by a one-hour live reunion show.

"I know that I could have worked it more in the hot tub if I wanted to," Parvati said after her ouster. "But I don't think it would have helped my place in this game."

Mighta been fun for the viewers, though. Is no one thinking of the viewers?

Parvati was the pretty schemer who had shown surprising resiliency during the challenges. Along with hunky males Yul and Ozzy, Parvati earned an overnight trip to a spa for a massage and a massive meal.

The trio had a few drinks. Then they all took off their clothes and jumped into a Jacuzzi.

Parvati turned up the charm and flirted with Ozzy, who didn't seem to mind. But that's as far as it went.

Yul noticed the flirting and was irked by it. But he was more worried about Parvati convincing Ozzy to flip, which would have created a tribal-council showdown between Ozzy, Parvati and Adam on one side and Yul, Becky and Sundra on the other side.

In the end, Ozzy stayed true to his old tribemates Yul, Becky and Sundra. That meant either Parvati or Adam had to go, and rightly or wrongly, Parvati was viewed as the bigger threat to win.

Here's are our thoughts on the remaining quintet:

OZZY: If Survivor were fair, he would win. He's the best athlete in the challenges, he catches the most food and he hasn't double-crossed anyone. Notably, though, his former tribemates Yul, Becky and Sundra might have turned on him already had he not continued to win immunity. They know that physically Ozzy is better at this than they are, and they have good reason to feel threatened by him when pondering the $1-million US prize.

YUL: The puppet-master who arranges hits on people, Yul has proved adept at behind-the-scenes scheming. To this point, Becky and Sundra have done what Yul says, and even when that little sneak Becky has her own ideas, she still runs them past Yul. The solidarity of this trio will have to decay at some point, though.

BECKY AND SUNDRA: They accurately were described in Thursday's episode as being "along for the ride." Block voting has kept their torches flickering, but we can't see Becky or Sundra winning. It would be criminally unjust. But hey, we've been wrong before.

ADAM: The sleeping giant, both literally and figuratively. At the tribal council on Thursday, host Jeff Probst pointed out that physically, Adam perhaps is the most imposing. But Adam willfully admitted that he hasn't backed that up. He's still around, though, and we foresee a possible quiet alliance with Ozzy, who is a prime candidate for a witch-hunt by the other three anyway.

No matter what happens tomorrow, we hope it's more compelling than last weekend's finale of The Amazing Race, in which the bland favourites won in mundane fashion.
