Ugly betrayal on 'Survivor'
By -- JAM! Showbiz

"First thing we do is kill all the lawyers," said Dick The Butcher in Shakespeare's 'Henry VI'. I cannot say that I disagree with Dick especially when it comes to reality show contestants. Lawyers and anyone with a career in marketing or advertising are always trouble for some reason. Last night's broadcast of 'Survivor: Fiji' was just another example of why you should never let those people out of your sight if you happen to find yourself on a tropical island playing a game hosted by Jeff Probst.

Hot on the heels of a gut-busting Tribal Council last week, we have another doozy this week as California lawyer Alex Angarita, pulled one of the most nasty betrayals in 'Survivor' history as the pagonging of the Latin American Exchange Alliance continues. With LAX member Edgardo voted out last week, it was Alex and Mookie Lee against the world as friends to the end...or so we thought.

Desperate to cause dissention in the Earl and the Gang Alliance or at least go out in a blaze of glory, the gruesome twosome secretly went through Yau-Man's bag and found the Hidden Immunity Idol. Like any other idiotic strategy the bumbling and amusing LAX has come up with, the plot to blackmail Yau-Man blew up in their faces. Earl and the Gang were too outraged by the fact that Yau-Man's privacy was violated to even think about why he never told anyone but Earl that he had found the Hidden Immunity Idol in the first place.

After all that they had been through together, LAX finally imploded at Tribal Council when in a bid to buy some more time on the island, Alex secretly voted against Mookie.

"Sorry. I am just trying to stay another day, buddy," said Alex.

Since the paranoid Earl and the Gang had split the vote just in case LAX had a Hidden Immunity Idol in their possession, Alex's ballot was the one that saved his own skin and sent Mookie packing. I guess Oscar Wilde was right. A true friend stabs you in the front.

The Survivors at the start of the broadcast were:

Bula Bula Tribe

1. Cassandra Franklin.
2. Earl Cole.
3. Yau-Man Chan.
4. 'Boo' Bernis.
5. Stacy Kimball.
6. 'Dre' Herd.
7. Alex Angarita
8. Mookie Lee.

Bula Bula Tribal Happenings - Night 27

Coming back from Tribal Council, Mookie and Alex compare notes. Alex: Dreamz played us all. Mookie: He is the one who turned on us. It hurts.

Earl and Stacey pull Dreamz aside and explain to him why they switched the vote to Edgardo and never told him. They say it is not that they didn't trust him. It is that they were fearful Mookie had the Hidden Immunity Idol. Dreamz buys what they are selling.

Earl: The power is on our side. We are six strong. Them two are on death row. Stacey (or as I like to call her...Rita Repulsa): They are lucky if they get fed.

Bula Bula Tribal Happenings - Day 28

Dreamz checks in with Alex and Mookie. Dreamz: Everything they told me was a lie. We all got outsmarted. Alex and Mookie cannot believe their ears. Alex: You betrayed us, dude. Dreamz denies that ever happened. Dreamz: I didn't turn on you. I didn't vote with them.

Dreamz admits he is feeding LAX a line of bull. He just wants their jury votes.

Reward Challenge

The Survivors are divided into two teams. It is Yau-Man, Boo, Cassandra and Mookie versus Rita Repulsa, Dreamz, Earl and Alex. Yau-Man and Rita launch balls from oversized slingshots while the others run around a muddy field trying to catch them with lacrosse sticks.

Reward

  • A trip to a spa and the power to exile another player.

    Result

Lots of pushing and shoving after Probst tells the players, it is up to them how physical they get. Cassandra even chokes Earl. Boo takes a nasty fall and injures his leg. Medical staff is called in. Boo pops his knee back into place and wants to continue.
  • Winners: Rita Repulsa, Dreamz, Earl and Alex.

Boo is exiled. Earl explains that ever since the game began, Boo has lived in luxury.

Exile Island Happenings - Day 28

Boo reads the new clue. It states the Idol is back at camp near a tree. Boo is glad for that. He just wants to rest and relax.

    Reward Happenings

The winners fly to a spa where they shower and eat well. Alex wants to weasel into Earl's alliance. Alex meets with Earl. He wants to know who is going first...him or Mookie? Earl: The game is not over so maybe I shouldn't say.

Alex: I am not going down without a fight.

Bula Bula Tribal - Tribal Happenings - Day 29

When Rita Repulsa, Dreamz, Earl and Alex return to camp, Mookie pulls Alex aside. He thinks Yau-Man found the Hidden Immunity Idol. With Yau-Man away fishing, they go through his bag. Mookie finds the Idol. Alex: What can we do with this info? What damage can we cause?

Cassandra and Stacey are sitting down and chatting in the jungle. Alex and Mookie sit nearby and don't see them at first. Alex and Mookie hatch a plan to blackmail Yau-Man into admitting his has the Hidden Immunity Idol. They cackle with glee. Alex: Even if we are voted out, we are going out Scarface style! Mookie hears a twig snap. He spots Cassandra and Stacey. Alex: We are screwed. LAX decided to hightail it back to camp and confront Yau-Man immediately. Alex: We are going to raise hell now.

Stacey: We only heard a few words of what they said and then they took off.

LAX gives Yau-Man a choice. He can tell the others about the Idol or they will do it for him. Yau-Man stares LAX down. Yau-Man: Do whatever you need to do. It will not change the game at all.

Yau-Man explains to Stacey what happened. When Earl and the Gang are together, Stacey lets everyone know. Stacey: My heart is breaking for Yau-Man. Cassandra: They are trying to bully him?

Earl is ticked about what happened and also that everyone knows about the Idol now.

Dreamz: Possessing the Idol makes you dangerous and a threat.

Mookie and Alex laugh gleefully. Mookie: At least we caused some dissention.

    Immunity Challenge

    A gigantic game of Battleship.

    Reward

  • Immunity from the Tribal Council vote.

    Result

The order of elimination is Earl, Dreamz, Boo, Cassandra, Mookie, Alex, Yau-Man.

  • Winner: Stacey.

    Bula Bula Pre-Tribal Council Happenings

Alex: I am up against a wall. I will not go quietly though.

Dreamz speaks with Earl. They debate whether Alex is capable of winning Immunity. Earl thinks he can.

Earl and the Gang meet. For some reason, Boo thinks Alex and Mookie might have found the Hidden Immunity Idol even though Boo is the only one with new clues. The group decides to split their votes between Alex and Mookie and cause a tie vote. Earl is not happy with the decision but feels that sometimes you gotta let the majority have its way.

Alex: I have to stay alive. I have one vote and I have to make it count.

    Tribal Council Happenings

Alex says that the Reward Challenge revealed the snakes and rats in the tribe. Mookie and Alex admit they looked through Yau-Man's things without his permission. Probst: You just found it? That is about as ratty and snaky as it gets. Yau-Man: Their desperate actions won't effect the game for a few rounds. Alex: Karma has a way of biting back. Mookie votes for Boo. Mookie: Someone has to go. Alex writes down Mookie's name. Alex: Sorry. Just trying to stay for another day, buddy.

    Final Voting

    1. Cassandra Franklin: Mookie.
    2. Earl Cole: Alex.
    3. Yau-Man Chan: Alex.
    4. 'Boo' Bernis: Mookie.
    5. Stacy Kimball: Alex.
    6. 'Dre' Herd: Mookie.
    7. Alex Angarita: Mookie.
    8. Mookie Lee: Boo.

    Tribal Council Victim: Mookie Lee.

Final Words:"I am pretty relieved that I am out of the game but at the same time it would be nice to still be in the game and have the alliances stay put for me. I wish I could be back there raising hell and making life miserable for everyone. It was a great experience and I wouldn't take it back." - Mookie Lee.

On the next 'Survivor': Internet. : When the Immunity Challenge doesn't go their way, one Survivor proposes a compelling argument before Tribal Council, placing their fate into the hands of several tribemates. One Survivor's constant chatter starts driving the others crazy. Could their mouth cost them the game? Desperate for information, one Survivor uses sneaky tactics to eavesdrop on a confidential conversation.

On the next 'Survivor': Television. : People are upset that either Alex or Boo cannot keep their yap shut. At the challenge, the players are shown biting off hunks of meat from hanging animals. The animals look like birds or pigs of some sort.

    Powell's Thoughts:

  • The meat challenge probably involves the players biting off pieces and depositing them in a bucket. The winner is the one whose bucket weighs the most?

  • The next episode is entitled: 'A Smile, Velvet Gloves and a Dagger in My Pocket'.

  • You just know that all of lies and manipulation by Dreamz just ain't gonna cut it with the jury. If he does make it to the final three, it will be an interesting final Tribal Council. He will have much to answer for.

  • There could be a brand new car be in Yau-Man's future? Uh-oh. You know what that means.

  • The only way for Alex to stay in the game is to win Immunity. You can stick a fork in him. He is done. Earl and his gang are just too strong and too committed at this point to waver. It is rumoured that Alex might try to convince the others that he is good to keep around because the jury will not vote for him.

  • It appears that for 'Survivor: China' the producers will be using a Ming Dynasty temple for Tribal Council.

  • The finale of 'Survivior: Fiji' will mark the 200th episode of the series. The series premiered on Wednesday, May 31, 2000. To date, Survivor has garnered 29 Emmy nominations and two Emmy Awards. Seven men and six women have won 'Survivor'.
