Ding dong! The Witch is dead! Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! Ding dong!
The Wicked Witch is dead. Survivor fans finally got their wish last night
as the meddling, cranky, scheming bartender-wannabe-actress Jerri Manthey
got trounced -- broomstick and all. How annoying was Jerri? Her own former
tribe of Ogakor hated her enough to forsake their unbeatable Tribal Council
majority and vote her out by teaming up with the remaining members of the
former Kucha Tribe.
Showing that they have the strongest influence over the Tribal Council
vote, chef Keith Famie, nursing assistant Tina Wesson and custom auto
designer Colby Donaldson led the charge against Jerri whom they have
detested from Day One when the Ogakor Tribe was formed. Because of her
close relationship with Jerri it appears that Amber Brkich wasn't told of
the plan. That decision could come back to haunt the Ogakor Alliance.
Though the dwindling Kucha Tribe alliance was spared this Tribal Council,
the Ogakor voting block still maintains a four-to-three voting advantage.
Nick Brown, the student and U.S. Army officer, was targeted by the Ogakor
Alliance as the next to be voted off. Brown's winning of the Immunity
Challenge scuttled their plans for the time being as Tina, Keith and Colby
couldn't bring themselves to cast out endearing Kucha contestants Rodger
Bingham or Elisabeth Filarski over the shrewish Jerri.
The remaining Survivors at the start of the broadcast were:
Barramundi Tribe
1. Elisabeth Filarski: Footwear designer.
2. Nick Brown: U.S. Army officer.
3. Rodger Bingham: Teacher.
4. Amber Brkich: Administrative assistant.
5. Colby Donaldson: Custom auto designer.
6. Jerri Manthey: Actress.
7. Keith Famie: Chef and restaurant owner.
8. Tina Wesson: Nursing assistant.
Barramundi Tribe Happenings (Day 25)
Three guesses as to what's happening in the Outback this morning? Yep.
It's raining again. Iron Chef Keith revives a dying camp fire while Colby
whines about having to sleep in a wet tent and Nick complains about his
sore throat and "enlarged taste buds"? Huh? Someone call the World Health
Organization, quick. The first case of Nick-and-his-mouth Disease has been
discovered! "Enlarged taste buds", my ass. It's called a sore throat, you
moron. When did this become an episode of the friggin' Golden Girls anyway?
Moan. Moan. Moan. Snivel. Snivel. Snivel. Shaddup already you two and help
Keith with the fire. Geesh.
Welcome back to another zany episode of Fishing With Rodger Bingham.
Today's special guest is nursing assistant, Tina Wesson. The water in the
fishing hole is about as clear as Amber's thought process, which as we all
know is a shade above Homer Simpson's. That makes fishing near impossible
for poor old Rodger. Dag nabbit! Rodger's got his line all fouled up like
rat in a molasses jar and it's up to Tina to lend a hand. Colby belly-aches
some more about there being only two or three days worth of rice left to
feed the tribe. Relax, cowboy. Do you really think the producers would let
you starve to death on national television? Come on. They'll bend the rules
for such expert hunters and gatherers like yourselves. Oh, Michael. Why did
you have to go and take a header into the blazing fire? These guys are
clueless without you.
Tree mail announces the next reward challenge. The Survivors must
pair-off with one guy and one girl on each team. Everyone suggests pulling
the names randomly out of a hat. Jerri, of course, opposes the idea.
Someone asks Jerri who she would choose then. She says Colby. "Well, duh.
Who wouldn't?," says Amber mocking her master. Recognizing that he is older
than dirt, Rodger predicts that nobody would select him if Jerri gets her
way. Colby takes matters into his own hands writing all the male names on
scraps of paper and putting them into a hat for the women to draw from.
Jerri pulls Colby's name anyway. When she had the time to cast that spell
is anyone's guess. Jerri reminds us that the game isn't fair. A whimpering
Colby says he doesn't want to share any reward with the Dark Queen.
Reward Challenge
An obstacle course.
Reward
A trip to the Great Barrier Reef to go scuba diving and eat an
extravagant meal.
Result
There are three heats with the last two teams facing off in the final.
Amber and Keith win the first race over Rodger and Tina. Colby and Jerri
defeat Nick and Elizabeth in the second. Amber and Keith lose to Colby and
Jerri in the final race. Colby manhandles Jerri through some of the course
yanking her through hoops and dropping her roughly to the ground after
pulling her over a wall. Colby and Jerri hug. Yuck!
Winners: Jerri and Colby.
Barramundi Tribe Happenings (Day 26)
Everyone waits in anticipation for the copter to arrive so that they
can be rid of Jerri for a day. Jerri tells us that she knows the others are
jealous of her but doesn't "give a crap if it affects the voting". The
helicopter whisks Colby and Jerri away. "The kids are gone for a day trip,"
remarks Keith. "Let's eat!," someone shouts as the copter disappears.
Survivor turns into one of those mind-numbing travel shows that air on
Saturday afternoons when only shut-ins are watching television. Gratuitous
footage airs of Jerri and Colby's helicopter ride as they fly over miles
and miles and miles of trees. For a brief moment we are treated to a
picturesque waterfall then it's back to more trees. "I really got to get me
one of these copters," jabbers Colby. The copter lands on a beach and they
board a boat. Colby warns Jerri that he won't tolerate any talk about the
game, the other Survivors or alliances. In a tent near the Great Barrier
Reef all sorts of food and drink as well as snorkeling equipment are made
available for Jerri and Colby. They stuff their faces and even though Colby
says they shouldn't drink it before diving, Jerri opens a bottle of
champagne. Colby and Jerri go snorkeling. Watching about two minutes of
that had me wishing some sharks would drop by for a snack. No such luck
though.
Back at the camp, it's more of that yummy rice for lunch. Amber and
Keith gather firewood as Tina and Liz lay on the beach catching a few rays.
Amber is thankful for the daily chores otherwise they'd have "nothing to
do". Here's a suggestion, Amber. Since you are all one step away from
stir-frying Colby's boots for supper, why don't you try something wild and
crazy like... hunting for some food! Doh!
Jerri still doesn't get it. News flash. Colby doesn't like you, Dark
Queen. Jerri thinks their excursion is like the "perfect honeymoon without
the sex". Colby tells us once again that he has no interest in Jerri
whatsoever and that if anyone back at the camp "pisses him off", he'll rub
the trip in their face. Yeah, right. Jerri reflects on the getaway saying
she was able to get in touch with her "tender side". She is as shocked and
surprised by this revelation as we are.
Returning to camp, Colby says he wishes everyone could have come with
them. In a sneaky maneuver, he pulls out a piece of coral for everyone.
Colby makes one error in judgement. The one he's selected for Keith has a
hole in the middle. Colby says it matches "the empty space between his
ears". Keith feigns laughter. Not a smart move, cowboy. As the women fawn
over Colby and call him "thoughtful", Jerri sits with a smirk on her face.
She knows exactly what Colby is up to. She comments that he is "one up on
her" now.
Barramundi Tribe Happenings (Day 27)
Colby informs us that is has been decided that Nick is next. Keith says
he doesn't feel bad about voting for Nick because he's claimed to be "burnt
out" and ready to go. The doomed Kucha members wallow in their torment.
Nick has the feeling that the Ogakor Alliance has him in their sights. He
desperately wants to win the Immunity Challenge.
Immunity Challenge (Day 27)
A test of balance over water. There are three rounds with two Survivor
battling each other. The winners move on to go against one another in the
following rounds. The first challenge is two towers with a rope between
them. The second is a "shaky beam". The third is a rope between two
unstable platforms. The pairings have been randomly chosen.
Reward
Immunity from Tribal Council.
Result
Rodger beats Keith. Nick defeats Jerri. Colby beats Tina. Amber is
victorious over Elizabeth. In the next round, Colby defeats Rodger, Nick
beats Amber. In the finals, Nick defeats Colby. Rodger and Elizabeth
congratulate Nick.
Winner: Nick.
Barramundi Tribe Happenings (Day 27)
Jerri tells us that on the way back from the Immunity Challenge the
Ogakor Alliance picked Elizabeth since Nick won immunity. Amber isn't sure
if the original plan is still in effect. Elizabeth tries to convince Tina
that Jerri should be the one to go. Tina is honest with Elizabeth and
affirms that even though they don't want to, that the Ogakor Alliance has
to vote Liz and Rodger off.
Tina, Colby and Keith chat alone about switching their votes to Jerri
instead.
Tribal Council
Alicia takes her position on the Survivor Jury. Jeff asks Nick about
winning the Immunity Challenge. Nick feels he is lucky since he believes
the Ogakor Alliance had marked him for banishment. Jerri apologizes for
the things she's done saying that being in such a rough environment brought
out the worst in her. Elizabeth is prepared for the worst.
Amber votes for Elizabeth. It's the hardest vote she's had to cast.
Rodger selects Jerri because of her bad moods. Jerri casts her vote for
Elizabeth. She's the most lovable and likable person she's ever met which
makes her a threat.
Final Voting
1. Elisabeth Filarski: Jerri.
3. Nick Brown: Jerri.
5. Rodger Bingham: Jerri.
6. Amber Brkich: Elizabeth.
7. Colby Donaldson: Jerri.
8. Jerri Manthey: Elizabeth.
9. Keith Famie: Jerri.
10. Tina Wesson: Jerri.
Parting Comments
"You know, it's funny because I absolutely knew this was coming. It
must have been my remark about how this game isn't fair. I am pretty sure
that's what set everyone off. I've had a great time and I am still up for
sitting around with everybody having beer and laughing about this whole
thing. "- Jerri Manthey.
Powell's Comments
On next week's show the tribe is offered more food but at a high price
we are told. The producers tossing the rule book out the window again? What
a shock. What is troubling to me is no matter how much I wanted to see her
get what she deserves, it was very stupid for Ogakor to turn on Jerri
especially if Amber is smart enough to realize that she was left out of the
loop. As her vote shows, she still thought they were voting Elizabeth out.
All Amber has to do is join and be accepted by the Kucha Alliance and
Ogakor is in serious danger of having the tables turned on them. By putting
personal issues before smart gameplay the Ogakor Alliance could very well
have signed their own death warrants.
