Mark Burnett's greatest nemesis has returned...and we aren't talking about
the CEO and chairman of CBS, Leslie Moonves, either. After taking some time
off during the 'Pearl Islands' series to write a book ('The Spoiler:
Revealing the Secrets of Survivor') the mysterious 'ChillOne' has
resurfaced on the Internet...with a vengeance.
Revered by die-hard fans for his revealing and accurate 'Survivor: The
Amazon' reports long before the series was ever broadcast after
unexpectedly stumbling on the information while on a trip to Brazil,
'ChillOne' has now posted a 30 page account of his December, 2003 trip to
the Pearl Islands and the 'Survivor: All-Stars' spoilers he uncovered
there. Entitled 'A Piece of ASS' ('ASS' being the jocular acronym for
'All-Star Survivor' used by fans), the document and photos of his trip are offered at no cost on
his Web site and chronicles his time nosing around the locations after the
filming had been completed.
"Now, whether my detractors will believe this or not, I really didn't plan
my trip to Latin America just to dig up 'Survivor' secrets. But when I
found myself with a required layover so close to the filming site, the
opportunity to undertake another covert operation as a 'source' spoiler was
too much to pass up. I love a good adventure," writes 'ChillOne', who
describes himself on his site as a "part-time ferryboat Captain, an
aspiring USGA rules official, and a health and fitness enthusiast". He also
claims to also have done "surveillance-related consulting assignments" for
the FBI, NSA, RCMP, and Australian Federal Police.
According to his 'All-Stars' report, 'ChillOne' met with one of the
ferrymen who shuttled contestants and the production staff back and forth
during the shoot. 'ChillOne' claims some of the ferrymen are ticked at
'Survivor' producer Mark Burnett for limiting access to sea-faring traffic
while filming both 'Pearl Islands' and 'All-Stars'. This severely cut into
their income. The boat driver named 'Jayson' took him to Isla Saboga, Isla
Chapera and Isla Mogo Mogo where the three tribes lived as they competed in
the game and Isla Contadora where the production staff laid their hats and
the tribal council set was located. Contadora was patrolled by armed guards.
"Security force or not, I was determined to dig up something about the
tribal sites, the dynamics of the game, and the mystery of who got sent
home early and who might have stayed long enough to become the survivor of
all survivors," 'ChillOne' states.
While roaming around the islands and chatting with the ferryman and his
crew, 'ChillOne' was told the start of the series might include the three
tribes being kept apart from each other and then 'kidnapped' by militia-men
who would escourt them to their respective camp sites. This was done so
that none of the tribes would know who their opponents were.
Supposedly, the Mogo Mogo tribe (Colby, Lex, Kathy, Richard, Jenna M. and
Shii Ann) don't do so well, Ethan Zohn (the winner of 'Survivor: Africa')
may be the first player booted and Rupert 'Blackbeard' Boneham, the fan
favourite of 'Pearl Islands', is 'around for awhile'.
During the second leg of his eight hour excursion, 'ChillOne' says he was
taken to a second source at a restaurant in Punta Galeon. Requesting he be
referred to as 'The Man', the 'Survivor' mole ate lunch and chatted about
the 'All-Stars' production. Though worried that 'The Man' was a plant put
in place by the producers, 'ChillOne' alleges the spy told him Rupert does
well at the challenges, Ethan is the first to be sent packing, Jenna
Morasca (the winner of 'Survivor: The Amazon') quits the game due to the
death of her mother and that there will be no repeat winner on 'All-Stars'. In late-breaking news though, ChillOne tells Jam! Showbiz that Tina is the first boot and Ethan is second.
When asked about divulging the boot order, 'The Man' agreed to write down
the final seven contestants. The names he scribbled were Amber Brkich,
Robert Mariano, Jenna Lewis, Rupert Boneham, Tom Buchanan, Shii Ann Huang
and Alicia Calaway. Shortly thereafter, their meeting concluded.
"ChillOne' ends his report with a word of caution that the meeting could've
all been a set-up to cast fog over the 'All-Stars' results.
"If my intel proves wrong, I can live with it. After all, like a good
'Survivor' contestant, I had played the game as best I could. I had stood
up against the great wall of security MB (Mark Burnett) had built to cover
his ASS, and I didn't back down. And I had scored some big triumphs. I had
brought back useful and provocative intel, enough to get the spoiler
pundits debating ChillOne again. We'll all be watching to see how it plays
out, even me."
Casting a shadow over ChillOne's report though are the recent comments of
'Survivor' host Jeff Probst. They may support ChillOne's fears that the
producers could've been playing mind games with him in the Pearl Islands.
In an interview with the Edmonton Sun's Steve Tilley last week, Probst
stated that he wouldn't be surprised if 'Survivor' rumour sites on the
Internet led to the demise of the popular reality show but the producers
were doing everything they could to protect the secrets of the show.
"Once you spread information like that and there's money to be made or fame
to be had - 'Hey I know something you don't know, listen to this' - all we
can do, honestly, is counter it with our own misinformation," Probst told
Tilley.
In speaking with Jam! Showbiz during the launch of 'Survivor: Pearl
Islands' series producer Mark Burnett said he wasn't worried about Internet
spoilers since the show has 20 million viewers and most of those people
have "normal lives" and don't cruise the rumour sites.
Sandra Diaz-Twine's victory on 'Survivor: Pearl Islands' had been leaked on
the Internet when an offshore gambling site announced that 15 bets on
Diaz-Twine were placed by people who lived near each other in Vancouver,
British Columbia. The same situation occurred before 'Survivor: The Amazon'
aired with an unusual number of bets being placed on the winner: Jenna Morasca.
'Survivor All-Stars' debuts on CBS following Super Bowl XXXVII on Feb. 1st.
