Jane Krakowski thinks Hawaii is a better summer destination than Toronto.
Now, that's something we all can accept. However, a media conference call with 30 Rock's Krakowski turned hilariously "30 rocky" yesterday when she good-naturedly but repeatedly was accused of having blasted Toronto.
It all started when fellow 30 Rock cast member Jack McBrayer was asked how he spent the summer, and he replied enthusiastically that he had spent a month in Hawaii while making a movie.
"Yes, and mine was very similar, I was in Toronto, Canada," Krakowski chimed in, her voice dripping with comic sarcasm. "The beach, the high life ... the Canadians."
As luck would have it, the very next person to ask a question on the call was from Toronto.
"Oh no, you heard that!" Krakowski said. "I didn't realize everyone hears everything. I actually really do like Toronto. But it didn't sound as romantic and exciting as Hawaii."
Then things really got funny, because no one on the call would drop it. Another caller from Toronto said he was just headed for the beach.
"I am ruined," Krakowski said. "This is just like Jenna (Krakowski's character on 30 Rock). Now Canadians are going to hate me. I had a lovely, lovely time there. It just wasn't the same location."
A caller from England subsequently asked Krakowski, "Well, we know you hate Toronto now, but are you more a fan of London?"
A caller from Texas asked Krakowski, "I live in Dallas, would you like to trash my city before I ask a question?"
"Oh lord ... this came out so wrong!" said Krakowski, laughing very hard.
The call ultimately ended with Krakowski jokingly saying she was going to issue a public apology to Canadians, and an NBC public-relations person wondering aloud if she should be contacting the Canadian consulate.
