OTTAWA -- Ottawa's perpetual prankster returned to the capital yesterday with America's most notorious White House intern.
Monica Lewinsky was all giggles -- but few words -- as she was toured around the region by Ottawa-native funny man Tom Green.
It's the first visit to Ottawa for the 26-year-old Lewinsky, who is in town with Green to make "a big announcement" today at the Little Beaver Restaurant at 320 McArthur Rd.
"So far, she seems to like (Ottawa) a lot," said Green outside his parents' home in Orleans.
They battled each other with toy Star Wars' light sabres during a morning visit to Tim Horton's. They put coffee filters on their heads and pretended to be Storm Troopers.
Green then made a scene inside the Chateau Laurier, where he lunched with Lewinsky and his parents. He exited the ritzy Wilfrid's Restaurant ranting -- with a smirk across his face -- for reporters to leave them alone.
"You're scaring my mother," shouted Green. "Have you no souls?"
The visiting celebrities were also interviewed on Rogers Cable, where Green got his career start before climbing to CTV's Comedy Network and then to MTV.
A slimmed-down, shorter-haired Lewinsky joked on television about rumours of their pending marriage and pregnancy -- which she called "a bad joke" before awkwardly inquiring "Where's the commercial break?"
Lewinsky said last fall she was dating Jeff Boggs, a producer at MTV's The Tom Green Show and a former writer for David Letterman.
It's "interesting" to have Green back in town, said father Richard. His son crashed the parents' place with Lewinsky around 4 a.m. yesterday after arriving Wednesday night.
Lewinsky left a good impression on Green's parents when she left their home yesterday. Meanwhile, some members of the media and public doubted whether she was 'the real thing' given Green's reputation for pulling stunts.
"She's very friendly," said Green Sr. "A nice sense of humour. Relaxed. An all-around nice person."
There was no talk in the Green household about Lewinsky's scandalous affair with U.S. President Bill Clinton, however.
"Absolutely not," said mother Mary Jane Green.
Just before Green and Lewinsky loaded themselves into a Ford Excursion and drove away, a gang of 14- and 15-year-old male students from the comic's old high school dropped by the parents' home.
No blue dress
Green had briefly visited Colonel By Secondary yesterday morning and spoke to students over the PA system.
The teenagers -- who got a friendly wave and a perky "Hi" from Lewinsky before she left the scene -- said Lewinsky was shorter but cuter than they'd imagined.
"She looked better than I thought she would," said Brad Yaeger.
"She's not wearing the blue dress," noted Andrew Moncrieff.
The visiting celebrities planned to catch a flick and get to bed early last night.
