TV Show: Tom Green

Doubtful that Green will walk Oscar red carpet
By CLAUDIA PEEL and JOHN STEINBACHS

Funnyman Tom Green was released from hospital early yesterday and is relaxing at his Los Angeles home.

The 28-year-old Ottawa native and star of MTV's Tom Green Show underwent testicular cancer surgery at a hospital in Los Angeles last Tuesday.

Green's official website said the comedian will likely be forced to take a three-month break from his MTV show while he recovers from the surgery.

"He's still upbeat," said his kid brother Joe from his parents home in Gloucester. "But he'll always be like that. He'll never stop. He's always making jokes."

But it's now doubtful Green will be well enough to escort girlfriend Drew Barrymore to tonight's Academy Awards.

"I have a feeling he won't be going," Joe said. "It wouldn't make a lot of sense."

His brush with cancer also has Green fundraising for cancer research.

Green has started a campaign in hopes of raising $10,000.

Donations can be sent to the Tom Green's Nuts Cancer Fund c/o California Community Foundation 445 S. Figueroa St., Suite #3400 Los Angeles, CA, USA, 90071.
