TV Show: Tom Green

Tom Green injured by wave

Tom Green says he is lucky to be alive after being slammed by a wave on a beach in Central America, People.com reports.

The Canadian funnyman was hospitalized after sustaining two broken ribs as a result of the freak accident.

In a posting on his website, Green says he was standing on some rocks while preparing to fish when a wall of water hit him.

"I actually tried to lean into (the wave), as if that would keep me in my footing. It was like leaning into a freight train. And I was gone. I felt my life flash before my eyes," he writes. " Milliseconds later I slammed hard onto the rocks... I could feel the cracking of bone."

A witness took him to the hospital, where he was X-rayed and posed for a picture, because "a couple of the younger doctors recognized me."

Green gave an update on his condition yesterday, saying he is in "severe pain" but feels fortunate to still be on the face of the earth. "It just doesn't make any sense that I am not paralyzed, or broken in more places, or dead."
