TV Show: Voice, The

CeeLo struggles to fill 'Voice' team
By Samie Durnford, QMI Agency

Domo gets chosen to be on Team CeeLo. (NBC)

Third times a charm with The Voice as it returned for the third night in a row to showcase the blind auditions. Taking on X Factor, the four superstar judges are working to find the best singers for their team of 16. Remember: If they don’t fill their team they have to go ahead with what they have. Which, could cost them The Voice crown.

Starting off the night was Samuel Mouton, the 19-year-old pizza cook. He says he sounds much different than he looks. With a backwards hat and leather jacket, singing Redemption Song, he's more reggae than punk rock like his look. Adam turns around first followed by CeeLo and Christina. He chooses chill Adam for his coach.

Looks like Samuel fared much better than the last contestant to sing Bob Marley. She got sent packin’.

Former Dream Street boy band member Chris Trousdale is ready to dance his way onto someone's team and get out of working at Starbucks. Singing Glad You Came to compliment his boy band demeanour, it doesn’t sound great. Maybe because he’s one dude singing a group number, it falls short. Dancing around the stage while singing, he sounds out of breath for the most part. No one turns around and the judges agree that he sounds more like a dancer than a singer.

After fleeing Nigeria with his family and having to leave his father behind, Nelly's Echo is ready to fully live the American dream now that his dad has joined them in the United States. Singing Ain't No Sunshine, Christina is the first to turn around and Adam gets around before the song ends. Echo chooses Christina, which is a bit of an odd choice for his style.

For a first mother daughter duo, 2Steel Girls, is ready to surprise the judges. A family who loves music, momma Steel has even quit her job in order to come on The Voice. Singing Before He Cheats, it doesn't start off the strongest but once they start getting into it, they sound good together. CeeLo beats Blake to the button and the two judges battle it out. Blake makes the usual country pitch but also throws in the fact that he wants to protect their family dynamic. The country duo makes the obvious choice and goes with Blake.

In the country world, a mother daughter duo might be gold.

In some performances that weren't shown, singer Lisa Shinta gets scooped up by Christina, along with 15-year-old Marissa-Ann. Wedding singer Loren Allred goes with Adam.

A hip-hop dancer full of attitude from the Bronx, Domo, claims she is the Lady Gaga of China. Singing Don't Cha, CeeLo is the first to turn around and is very happy with the woman he sees dancing on stage. She's cute and can dance but I'm not sure her singing is the strongest point. She also seems absolutely nuts. I think CeeLo might be getting desperate.

Self described hippie, Nicole Nelson, takes the stage with a classic, Hallelujah. Her voice is instantly strong and smooth sounding, but no one turns around. Finally Adam presses his button and the other three judges are soon to follow. Nicole chooses Adam, which isn’t a bad choice. She's a bit of a wild card singer.

At the end of the third day of auditions, the teams are as follows:

CeeLo Green: Only picked up Domo and now has four singers.

Christina Aguilera: Now has seven after picking up three singers this show.

Blake Shelton: Picked up the mother-daughter duo to total five.

Adam Levigne: Picked up three singers to total five.

Next week, even more blind auditions as the judges scramble to fill their teams.
