Browning to star in 'Peter Pan' panto
By -- Toronto Sun

Impresario Ross Petty hasn't even brought Aladdin's magic carpet into Toronto for a safe Yuletide landing and he has already preparing to take wing with Peter Pan.

In a news release yesterday, Petty -- producer of the annual Christmas pantos that have become a perennial audience favourite in Toronto -- announced that champion figure skater Kurt Browning has been signed to star in next year's offering: A fractured version of the J.M. Barrie tale titled Peter Pan, The Family Musical That Won't Grow Up. It is slated to run Nov. 22, 2007 through Jan. 6, 2008 at the Elgin Theatre.

Meanwhile, Petty is readying his cast for the Toronto opening of this year's panto, titled Aladdin, The Family Musical. Headlined by wrestler Bret "The Hitman" Hart, it opens Thursday at the Elgin Theatre, after a tour of Western Canada, before heading off to Ottawa, where it opens Boxing Day.

Tickets for Aladdin and for the 2007 production of Peter Pan are both on sale at 416-972-5555.
