Deborah Cox to return to Broadway
By THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - Toronto R&B singer and actress Deborah Cox is reportedly returning to Broadway.

The New York Times says the three-time Juno winner will play the lead in a new Broadway-bound musical about the late American performer Josephine Baker.

The paper says Joey McKneely will direct and choreograph to a score by Steve Dorff, and John Bettis will pen lyrics.

Born in St. Louis, Baker rose to fame in France as a singer, dancer and actor in the 1930s and later became active in the civil rights movement in the U.S.

Cox, who was born in Toronto and now lives in Miami, was last on Broadway in the 2004 musical "Aida."

In February, she gave birth to her third child and last November, she released her first independent album, "The Promise."

Cox is well-known for her hit single, "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here."
