STRATFORD, Ont. - Acclaimed Canadian actor Christopher Plummer will reunite with American Nikki M. James at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival next year.
The two, who starred in "Caesar and Cleopatra" at the southwestern Ontario theatre festival last year, will share the stage there once again, this time in "The Tempest."
Plummer, who was born in Toronto and now lives in Connecticut, will star as Prospero.
James will play Ariel and artistic director Des McAnuff will oversee the production.
McAnuff also directed "Caesar and Cleopatra," which was a hit with critics and was turned into a film that aired on TV and screened in movie theatres across the country.
A few designers behind "Caesar and Cleopatra" - Robert Brill on sets, Paul Tazewell on costumes and Michael Walton on lighting - will also work on "The Tempest."
Other key casting announcements for Stratford's 2010 season this week include the addition of Tom McCamus to "Dangerous Liaisons."
McCamus won a Genie Award for best actor for 1993's "I Love a Man in Uniform," and stars opposite Patricia Clarkson in the new film "Cairo Time."
Tickets for the 2010 season go on sale to members on Nov. 16 and to the general public on Jan. 9.
The festival's 2009 season continues until Nov. 8.
