Channing returns to stage

Actress Stockard Channing bounced back from knee surgery to return to her role on Broadway on Friday - just days after having the operation.

The Grease star was forced to temporarily step down from the cast of hit play Other Desert Cities last week to have arthroscopic knee surgery. She was replaced by her understudy.

Channing vowed to be back on stage by the end of the month and wowed the audience at Friday's production by returning to the spotlight to perform.

Speaking before the show, she said, "This is maybe stupid. I don't know. But if it (her knee) doesn't blow up or get painful, I'm doing the right thing."
