Mel C hurts ankle before 'Superstar' debut

Spice Girls star Melanie Chisholm struggled through the opening night of musical Jesus Christ Superstar on Friday after spraining her ankle before the show.

The singer, who previously starred in West End show Blood Brothers, injured herself in the dress rehearsal just hours before she was due on stage at London's O2 Arena for the launch of Andrew Lloyd Webber's big budget production, which was featured in U.K. TV talent contest Superstar.

However, Chisholm refused to let the sprain slow her down and she performed as planned with a bandage strapped to her ankle.

She was later seen leaving the show's opening night party on crutches.
