Play Review: Beaverzilla

Beaverzilla, Winnipeg Fringe Festival
Imagine watching Godzilla, Natural Born Killers and The Vagina Monologues in quick succession, then having a dream afterwards. The result might resemble this stretched-out comedy sketch about a 40-year-old virgin mad scientist who inadvertently creates the titular all-Canadian monster after a mishap with a device called a "libidometer" and a laboratory test beaver. Without doubt, the four actors from Calgary's Tiny Tuna Theatre Collective are natural-born comediennes, but their material doesn't always equal their comic gifts. With a little trimming and waxing and this comedy may yet deserve the blurb: "a dam good time."
