Play Review: Blood Relations
Sharp as an axe
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE -- More than a century after she is reputed to have taken up an axe and given her mother 40 whacks, Lizzie Borden has carved herself a place in Canadian theatre history.
This time, however, an axe is not Lizzie's weapon of choice. Instead, she relies on the rather sharp pen of Canadian playwright Sharon Pollock, whose Blood Relations -- a retelling of the brutal murder of Lizzie's father and stepmother -- made a bit of theatrical history on Wednesday night.
