EDMONTON -- In the mid-'70s, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the little show that could, overcame its non-family-friendly title to become a surprise hit on Broadway, running for 1,073 performances.
The lively musical tells the true (well, more or less) story of the Chicken Ranch, a brothel that serviced the small Texas town of Gilbert for 100 years until the joint was shut down in 1973 by a self-serving, right-wing television do-gooder.
