Play Review: The Critic
The art of storytelling
OTTAWA -- When actor John Koensgen stands centre stage and announces, "I am THE THEATRE CRITIC," for a moment I flash back to the old Hulk Hogan days of wrestling, when the fabled heel taunted the audience to vilify him more than they ever thought possible.
It's a delicious moment for an actor, playing the most hated stereotype in show business, in Irish playwright Conor McPherson's one-man stand St. Nicholas, now playing until March 2 at the Great Canadian Theatre Company.
