Play Review: Detective Story
 Arresting tale
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE -- It's really no mystery as to why the Shaw Festival would want to do Detective Story.
First off, Sidney Kingsley's "naturalistic" melodrama, set in the fictitious 21st Precinct of the New York Police Department, spawned more than the movie of the same name starring Kirk Douglas. It also launched a taste for police-room drama that still lives in TV shows such as NYPD Blue and the various incarnations of Law & Order.
