Andy Northrup and Matt Kowalchuk use swaggerin' Southern spoken-word poetry and ramblin' country music to tell the story of Billy Markham, a down-and-out songwriter with a chip on his shoulder who turns the tables on the devil. Following a brief introduction that plays a little like a busker act, Northrup and Kowalchuk launch into a gravely voiced rendition of Shel Silverstein's poem, employing minimal but effective lighting and only the sound effects that Northrup can elicit from his guitar and keyboard. The rough, whiskey bar-style adds some down-home charm that will have you moseyin' out of the venue using words like, "swaggerin," "ramblin" and "moseyin."
