Cairns delivers the real goods
If we are to accept this slam-bang, damn-the-torpedoes portrait of fashion maven Diana Vreeland as the real goods and not a department store knockoff, then the world lost a great dinner companion in 1989 when she went off to that great runway in the sky.
Vreeland was the larger-than-life editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue and reigned as the New York sultana of style from the late '30s to 1971, when she was unceremoniously dumped by Vogue.
