Quite literally, it turns out, thanks to a libretto by Luigi Balocchi that is so delicate it can't even summon the strength to move itself out of a French spa called the Hotel of the Golden Lily, the denizens of which are constantly threatening to decamp for Rheims, for the crowning of Charles X.
