Winnipeg Fringe Festival Review: 'Red Hot Cabaret'
Last year's Poison Pixie production Circus Reject Peep Show had a nudity warning for a play with no nudity. This year's production has a "may contain nudity" warning for a play with no nudity. So at least they're getting a little more honest. The nudity doesn't matter, except in that it reflects Poison Pixie's penchant for not delivering on its promise. Red Hot Cabaret does deliver a couple of decent sketches -- involving a female assassin and a dance routine between a flagrant boogie girl and a censor. But how Red Hot is a reading of a wintry Thunder Bay vacation memoir? And what's with that incomprehensible, echo-chamber song-and-dance performance piece? Red Hot will leave you stone cold.
