Play Review: Smudge
Smudge sees the light
TORONTO -- There are several moments during the 60 minutes that are Smudge when one can practically hear the audience muttering: "Ah, now I see."
Which, one suspects, is pretty much the intent behind playwright Alex Bulmer's dramatic and often wryly comedic retelling of her own descent into blindness -- an attempt to give a sighted world a glimpse into a darkened world illuminated by wit, creativity, courage, humour, and sometimes brute stubbornness, plain and simple.
