 St. Frances a heartbreaker
EDMONTON -- On one level, the story of Frances Farmer is one of how the Hollywood machine of the '30s chewed up and spit out a free spirit who refused to play the studio's game.
On another, it raises questions about a political climate that was so threatened by a beautiful firebrand that she was subject to the most brutal torture - finally taking her soul.
